Went and collected some Casurina nuts this arvo before the Gloosy Blacks eat them all on me. Only got about half a 4lrt bucket full and a tick in the arse for my trouble. Probably Karma for taking all the cockys feed

Memories now of my late Nanas house at Blackheath and having all manner of pine nuts , casaurina shells etc dropped on ones head by the Black Cockies ( red tails I think) .
Reminds I must find the photos of them in her front yard during a snowfall , awesome sight . The Black Cockies are an awesome bird .

Some of the trees are on my property, so I only walk out the front door, but some of them are a little tall, I only pick what I can reach & leave the rest for the Glossys.

And you better make that 2 ticks, found one in my back last night

with the casurina nuts, don't forget to leave some for the cockies, they are an endangered and protected species... beautiful too...

Im guessing these are not good for the health? I have heard of them getting on dogs and cats but not humans. Do they affect birds too?
How do you get them off?

Scrub tick or Kangaroo tick aren't to bad make you itchy for a while. But the paralysis tick is bad news poisons the blood system can kill small animals have had cattle go lame and lost dogs to the mongrels. To get them off use a sharp instrument and scratch them out if you get them before they bury in to deep or its hello doctor and antibiotics.
