As much as I love the gouldians, and all the colours that you can get, I think one of my favourites would be the emblema, they are colourful, the male has an interesting call, they breed readily, and most importantly they are a ideal community aviary inhabitant, accepting and non intrusive of other birds.

emblemas with that over wound spring noise they make , and they kinda walk to the beat of a different drum and I like different.

Zebras, they are hardy, bomb proof and breed readily! Then Gouldians, and.......I love the Silver Nuns, even though I haven't kept both

Are you crazy?! Long tails are not aggressive they get along great with every one else. My faverit native finch is defiantly the double barred finch.Jayburd wrote:lovely birds but the most aggressive finch I've ever come across. loved them but hated them at the same time.jluna wrote:longtails - that social head-bobbing gets me every time.

with the exception of a pair of gouldians, which i must admit i find a little dull, i have never kept any australian finches. however the ones that i have considered based on appearance are:
masked - for that big yellow beak
doublebars - for that white face
and emblemas - for the personality and my weird thing for red coloured birds.
