Tonight I had the scare of my life putting my nesting Zeb's to sleep. I try to cover them over at the same time & stay around to make sure they don't flap around in the dark. Well tonight my male Zeb got his leg caught on a thread, from what I dont know. He was a flapping like crazy. I lifted the cover to find him hanging upside down by one leg. Adrenaline must have kicked in for me, I just grabbed him & the string. Once he was free, he was off to a resting place. Where he just stared at me. Mind you when he saw my hand he hissed at me, but stopped when he realized I was there to save him. Damm I am glad I stick around till they are settled. Now checking him his leg looks to be fine. But my hen has come out of the nest & will not go back in. This W/end I thought should be the time when there eggs hatched. Now she has been startled will I get any babies ?

I agree with spanna. Light doesn't need to be bright.Zeb's are very forgiving birds should be OK.

Well at first when I put there cover back down my hen "Mrs Beep" was trying her best to knock it off. So I left the light on it took about an hour & they calmed down. My male Zeb "Mr Squeeky" seems fine today & both are sitting in there nest. I am hoping we will see a baby, one would be just nice & a welcomed family member. So glad I was there when Mr Squeeky got his leg caught. I would have had a stroke finding him dead & upside down in the morning.
