Hi Chris,
Have three pair of yellow pytilias of which one pair have raised three young and are down again,one pair havent done anything yet and the third pair had clear eggs at there first attempt. Have two pair of red pytilias which are breeding and raised nine young between them.

good to hear that i hope i can do the same with mine ive got 2prs of yellow winged and 2pr red headed pytillias. are yours the red headeds or Auroras

Hi Chris. red heads not auroras,they are a great mixed aviary bird and a pleasure to watch they dont interfere with any of the other birds but sure do love there live food. What is there availability like in W.A and there prices? The yellows are around the $600 & the reds $250 over here in NSW.

availabilty on the red heads is becoming more common but cost about 250- 300 pr
with the yellow winged there real rare think only bout 5-7 people in wa have them and cost is around 800 but is coming down a little

yellow winged have come back in price in the last 6-12 months from $1000 to around the $600 but they were in the QFS mag last Dec for $400.

yeh heard that there were some in there but doubt they would be pure yellow wings though. think me red headeds ar starting to build a nestso fingers are crossed. me yellow wings were picking up material and that but since i moved them into me avairys they havent done anything but might be showing signs now

Try some shredded paper & emu feathers mine use a lot of these to build there nests. Best of luck with them. Cheers Keven
