Just wondering what everyone is using these days to pre line their Gouldian Nest Boxes. Anyhting they seem to favour more than other material? Thanks for your input in advance!

I use dried Panicum seed heads as it's the only grass I have in abundance. They don't suppliment the nest with anything else . Their second nest preference is to invade a star finch's nest (made from scatch in the aviary brush or live shrubs) lay their egg and let the stars raise the young.

I use coconut fibre in the bottom and swamp grass, they dont seem to like feathers at all, even to the point of removing them from nests that I tried with feathers.

They are theiving little buggers ... I threw some swamp grass and white feathers in this morning , went back an hour later and the goulds nest is about to bust it has so much stuff in it .

I will agree with that! I put the coconut fibre and the swamp grass in every box and I also made and put in another holder with feathers, swamp grass and coconut fibre ( the emblemas are nesting the the "real" nesting material holder) and I still see one or two gouldians dragging grasses out the boxes and stuffing their box with it
