A few hours ago when I got back from school I checked my finches and saw the female Bengalese on the floor all puffed up and wings out and her eyes were closed. I went straight to the pet shop and they said it was egg bound but they didn't have any chemicals for it. But The guy said if you put cooking oil or olive oil in a needle and squeeze some up the bum it will lubricate the egg so she can get it out.

I did and I put her under a heat lamp in a shoebox and then I rang Greg for some advice (Thanks mate). And just a few minutes ago she got the egg out and its different from every other egg. Its small and kinda translucent. I think she still has a couple more eggs but she looks much better, She opened her eyes and drank a bit of water. She should be alright.

Does anyone have any more advice?

Sounds like you have already had some good advice.The only other thing i would do is also add some electrolytes in its water.

How long can I keep her in there? I think she's had enough stress and she's curling her head back trying to sleep but she's still puffed up.

Great to hear the good news, i would leave her there till tomorrow and she how she is, she will recove quicker with the warmth from the light but just make sure it doesn't get to hot.

mate . it probably was the heat lamp that helped her pass the egg. using any kind of oil on the birds vent is an old wives tale. but puts your mind at ease. keep up the warmth for the next few days and as gomer said some electrlytes will be a big help (spark i think its called) .be careful she dont get to hot....pete

Hey Tim sounds like your doing everything right just keep her warm. how's she going this morning.

Yeah last night about 11:00 she started hopping out of the box and flying towards the cage so I let her back in and this morning she's flying around and eating so she's alright
