Just had a peek in the OBs nest as yesterday she looked like she was having trouble. Saw 3 tiny eggs in there. They are putting the stars to shame (stars have been stuffing around with nests for weeks, building, moving, dismantling, extending etc and no concrete results). In maybe two weeks, the OBs have mated, nested and laid eggs. I win (OBs are mine, stars are hubby's ). So exciting, if all goes well these will be our first babies. Must read more on the OBs...

Live food, and greens. Because they are small aphids, the tiny weevils that infest seed (yes this is one time when weevily seed is good) fruit fly. Good luck.

I did pretty well out of mine with just small mealworms and plenty of soft foods (ie: egg and biscuit, etc), sprouted/soaked seeds, seeding grasses and greens.
Your mileage may vary.

congratulations, i found that plenty of fresh greens, (endive and spinach) dont throw on floor, peg on inside of door, less bacteria, lebanese cucumber, my opinion and I stress my opinion, dont feed too much mealworms, three to four in morning only and every second day, too much lowers there calcium intake and increased the chance of feet deformities, not trying to scare you as i said just my opinion and experience. Give them fresh egg shells once a week, and go and find as much as you like of seeded fresh greens. also leave them be not too much nest inspection. Best of luck I'm sure all will be fine.

On the live food front, termites are really the only way to go. I know people don't like having them or have anywhere to store them, but you are able to keep them in the fridge for just over a week without them dieing, & they can be frozen for upto 3 months. It will take a little training, but if you can make the effort to provide them with some fresh termites as well as frozen ones, and increase the amount of frozen, while decreasing the amount of live, you should be able to get them on frozen in a week or 2, so from then on you'd only have to collect them every 2 - 3 months, & after the first couple of times should be able to work out how many to colleet to last this length of time. As I said alot of people don't like having them, but I will garentee the results will speak for themselves, especially with the O/B's, even with the frozen ones.
