Just asking I have 4 pairs of red face in one avarie & 4 pairs of seagreen parrot finches in other.. Would they breed better together or should I only keep 2 pairs in each avarie .bcuz they are building nest & then abanding them the cocks just chase each other. Iv been breeding them for a while but my prob is I love them to much to get rid of a few.. Don't know but if there is to many in 1 avarie for better results then must sell... :(.

My opinion is that all parrot finches breed better as 1 pr or a trio per aviary.

My experience with parrot finches one pair in each aviary or two hens one cock. the cocks will be quiet territorial especially if aviary not oversized. i think your problem is overcrowding.

used to house 6pairs + 1 spare hen in an aviary 8m x 3.6m and bred 40 plus young each year . i had breed all these birds myself in smaller aviaries and allowed them to mature in the large aviary , i then reduced there number to 6pairs + 1hen selecting different blood lines for cocks and hens. a mate of mine bought the whole colony and had good success in a similar sized aviary. i always offered copious quantities of seeding grasses, mainly rye grass which is abundant in spring, and found the best breeding to be from September to January
