Went to pick up some parrots today,The bloke is selling around 100 plus avairys aswell,With about 40 or so already sold.There is one half bank of around 8 conventionals not sold that my be suitable to me but a little expensive for my setup.And also a bank of suspendeds that caught my eye maybe around 30 cages in the bank being around 1m wide and 2m deep approx.I was thinking around 6 to 10 of them would be good posibly for blue goulds or even normals? @ one pair per cage.

So my Question is what if any experiance have you all had with suspendeds and finches? Or maybe someone has seen finches housed in them.Or any thoughts about them? working well or not?

Anyway say some interesting things there like Five wombats some hawks a pr of wedgies aswell.A big setup to see one of the biggest I have seen to date.

Get them all!!!!.......I would die for that many. Branch into the small lorikeets.

There's quite a few people keeping parrots in them......kinds of parrots that weren't traditionally kept in suspendeds, like Neophemas, Rosellas etc...........no reason why Gouldians in particular wouldnt mind a suspended......in fact suspendeds are still a relatively new thing.......wasnt that long ago that no-one would've considered them at all.......but in just a few years they've revolutionised Lorikeet keeping and plenty of other foreign (& expensive ) Parrots....................I used to be a traditionalist and thought they were like battery hen cages but I've wiped the proverbial from my eyes and now see them for what they are, a very good solution to keeping birds cleaner, therefore healthier, happier, and more free breeding .........

Go for it, get more, try the gouldians in them..........get some little lorikeets or Purple crowns too, you'll fall for 'em ;)

Better than cabinet, cause they've got access to direct sunlight more than a cabinet would, easy to keep clean, but would still put a small tray of sand in the cage (not under the perches) as most finches still like to forage, even if there is nothing to forage for.

No idea, never tried them. But buy them and try them, with those finches you have most of. Then tell us all how it worked. More avairys are never enough.

Love mine , easy to clean and cant be too bad for finches we just come through the coldest winter in ages and the Gouldians survived out there .

Ooops down side catching the birds can be a bit difficult but not impossible . Must add my door is not that big .

Rang the bloke for some more details,They are actually only 600mm wide and 1900 deep and the bank 14.4 metres long with 24 cages.Only around 2 years old requiring a back wall for walkway,$720 for the lot, Worth considering.Will have a good think about it.Some other things to consider,do i have the time to look after anymore birds propley? And can i buy it and put it in the yard without the chop burner noticing it.

;) You could always bring it in a piece at a time, then when it gets noticed its "oh that! been there ages had it down the back just decided to try using it"

That is the only question I think, the rest seems like a great deal.

@ Di ..yeah you could bring it in piece by piece anyhoo the other point about looking after more birds is very valid , these hobbies can become overwhelming , things can go along smoothly for an age then it only takes one little upset to the routine and they can become hard work .Touch wood it doesnt happen but these are things to consider .
