Normal grass parrot males are brightly coloured the females are mostly brownish with tinges of dull colour.
Im assuming you mean red rumps..

There are many types of grass parrots , neophemas are also a grass parrot or grass parrakeet depending on where you come from.

wow. How many birds in how big an aviary????

they don't mix with finches, those red rumps. Highly aggressive, mean.
Go for Neophemas I think, if you can fit them in. In red rumps, the hen is a duller brownish colour, no red rump.

Definately crowded in there. Red rumps, the cock is the bright one, the hen the dull. Need at least 3m long avairy so they can exercise properly, if I recall correctly. And 1 pair to an aivary.

Thought it might be a pet shop situation from the quantity. Good luck with them. Don't forget if they are going in with other parrots to make sure you have one more log/nest box than you do hen birds. And that the logs/nest boxs are not too close together. e.g. a couple of metres apart.

Do NOT mix with any bird smaller than them, even bigger parrot are fair game for Grassies. I had a pair in with 2 pairs of King Parrots & a Pair of Wonga Pigeons, the Grassies would beat the living Sh!t out of the Kings when they were nesting. In saying that, I do like them, infact I only just recently gave my last 2 pair of Blue Opalines away to a freind. Nice birds but hard to get rid of any young or unwanted birds unless they are the latest colour mution on the market.

Yes agreed VR1 hubby wants a pair Ive just convinced him that unless he goes for mutations wont be able to sell the young , he likes the blues and so do I .
No nicer bird to have in the yard , gawjus colours , gawjus bird however nasty buggers and bad rep for taking out other birds by biting the legs and bleeding them to death.
