Nice going there Deb, cinnamon and silver, very nice.
Thats something I was going to ask about silver quail. Is there a way to tell the males from the females? My silver chick has quite a few new silver feathers already.Jayburd wrote:I don't know whether it's a silver hen, can't really tell at that age with those.

Silvers get their bibs very late, and often have 'phantom bibs' where it LOOKS like one but isn't. You should be able to tell around 7-8 weeks.

As you can only see the back of the cinnamon I don;t know how you can say it is male. Deb do either of them have chestnut feathers on the belly yet? If not I would not swear to the sex. As some females of both colours have "phantom" bibs.

the male is a male, the amount of white spotting will show. hens have much less.
