Hmmm thought quail were ground dwellers ! This silver bugger here thinks it is superman , can fly to the highest perches to check out the big birds in a single bound .
Doesnt frighten the others so no biggy but IS IT SPOSE TO DO THIS ?
And man can they eat , so much for picking off the scraps these things need their own feed bowl which they empty daily
So now Im wondering whats the good of them since I only wanted a clean up crew ? Spose they are cute .
Super quails

Quail are excellent flyers. Usually only do it when nervous but. I have always put down extra food for the quail, and keep them cause I like them.

yes quails can/will do this occasionally.
mine only do it when pursued or frightened, but will do it.
yep always necessary to have special food on the ground for them, they can't just live off scraps and water.
and you haven't lived until you've hatched and seen a quail chick live yourself

No denying they are cute , guess my expectations of them were different to what is reality . Anyhoo they make a nice addition to the aviary .
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.
