am having the same trouble here suddenly the staffy is very interested in whats going on in the aviary ...I go crook on him and make him know he is not to go near the aviarys at all .
Whilst not at home he is going to have to be restrained somehow after all he is a dog and who knows what they will do when unattended.
On the other hand my other furkid Milly is always at the aviarys saying hello , she though can be trusted and has shared the house with hand reared birds so no problem there.

once our dog pushed a 40cm square hole in the aviary mesh (plastic coated!!!
) anyway amazingly no one escaped and we fixed up the hole, but after a few minutes of verbal battering (she could have let out my cordons and orange breasts!!) she never went too close again...
all dogs love to chase small things on the ground, in fact many are bred for that purpose so it's not too surprising.

My avairys are in a fenced off corner of the yard that the dog can not access unless she takes it into her head to dive between someones legs. Jack Russells are notorious hunters of small critters. Which is great where rodents are concerned, bad where reptiles are concerned and downright infuriating where birds are concerned.
