Aus Finch Breeders Guide to Available Species

This post is in responce to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4859
Here is a list I compiled from 2003 – 2005. Basically I had been out of the finch game for a few years and was getting ready to plunge back in with a vengeance! But the problem was, I had no idea what was out there. So I began to research and was surprised by some of the results.
My main source for this list was from data collected by the dreaded National Exotic Bird Registration Scheme (NEBRS) that was established in 1996 and ended in 2002. Because of this scheme many of the once common foreign species had almost disappeared! I also used the Queensland Finch Society census data, auction and sales data and the same from other smaller clubs around the country. I also clocked up a massive phone bill talking to private and commercial breeders all over Australia – from Tassy to Nth Qld, and Sydney to Perth! Unfortunately back then many of the old guys didn’t have email.
Anyway, I then decide this list may be helpful to other people so I add their availability and breeder rating (beginner / experience etc.). Originally I was going to include prices but this seemed to differ dramatically all over Aus, so I left it out. I do keep an up to date separate list of Qld prices for my own benefit.
This list has been published in most of the finch / softbill magazines and journals both here and internationally. But in case you didn’t see it then, I am posting it again here.
I hope you enjoy!
ps. Ok, this site wont let me upload a PDF, so i tried the Excel file and it timed out!!
So I have uploaded to the QFS site so you can download it here: http://www.qfs.org.au/Downloads/Aust_F ... pecies.pdf
