This morning I did my normal routine in the aviary and also checked the babies as usual....all present and accounted for.

Just now Ive been in a second time(not something I normally do) , and for some reason I just decided to check one nest again and when I counted the chicks there was one missing I thought I had miscounted, but definitly one missing so I started a hands and knee search and found one cold baby, I thought it was dead, but as I touched it it wiggled and chirped so I put it back in the nest.
Will the parents accept it back?
Baby is about 10 days old, why toss now? Parents both defend the nest.
If it does get tossed again, should I try putting back again or try putting in another nest where the eggs are due to hatch on 11th?
The crop was full so could the parents have been feeding it on the ground?
Could juvenile gouldians have anything to do with this?

I've had premature fleding ocurr with stars and Gouldians - ususally because I can't keep my nose out of things. Often I replace the birds without incident but there are some that keep hopping out. Once disturbed it's probably instinct because there's obvious danger when a nest has been discovered by a preditor (2 weeks coming up and no sign of the snake that got into my aviary). If there are lots of siblings in a nest it may have been crowded out. Adult Gouldians are very tolerant of nest inspections so you shouldn't have a problem once your baby is warmed up and is able to compete with its siblings.

Checked this morning on the chick that was tossed/jumped out and unfortunately it must have died during the night.

The crop was empty.

Hey Diane sorry to hear the bad news

sorry to here that Diane,It works more then it doesnt,putting them back in the nest.Although sometime putting one back more jump out,Then you have more to put back in.

Glad to here that snake has not been sighted Greg.And doesnt come back since you have modified your avairy.
