Heartbreaking, my condolences. Had similar problems some years back before the lilac tree finished spreading out over the
avairys. Now all I have to do is keep the excess weight off the branches so they don;t break and cause a different problem.
How hot was it? We have already had 2 x 40degree days. But it looks like we might be having a bit more tropical weather this year, as it is currently overcast and drizzling.

Yeah, I was surprised as it was only 32 outside and i have a mayb DODGY electronic temp gauge which was reading 40 but it wasnt too bad in the aviary no birds were panting. I did note that the only one that survived was one that had sarted to feather up the others were still bald. Today same temp all is well in other boxes as was yesterday. Just unlucky i guess.

32 isnt really that hot however if the nests are close to the tin wall of an aviary heat will radiate into the nest . Anyhoo it is awful luck and I hope it doesnt happen again for you.

I know all too well about the monsoonal tropics and birds. Sorry about your losses. It's not so much the absolute temperature which is stressful enough but the combination with high relative humidity which makes it impossible to cool down because this relies on the rate of evaporation and the higher the humidity the less able water (from the respiritory passages and air-sacs or the skin if they've just bathed) is able to evaporate, absorbing the latent heat and putting it into the atmosphere instead of the body. When the wet sets in at least there is relief with the daily afternoon storm but in the build up mother nature taunt's you with the promise of some relief but doesn't deliver for week after week but eventually it comes.
