Just wondering if you breed a normal split for blue gouldian to a normal, will some of the offspring be split for blue? I looked at one of my gouldian books and if I read it right this pairing could produce 50% normal split for blue and the other 50% being just normal. Can anyone else confirm that this is infact true?

Assuming your birds are BH PC GB/b according to the forecaster you would have
12.5% BH PC BB cocks
12.5% BH PC GB cocks
25% BH PC GB/b cocks
12.5% BH PC BB hens
12.5% BH PC GB hens
25% BH PC GB/b hens
As you are dealing in percentages these figures could dramatically change. As you mentioned in your post you have 8 youngsters and only one is blue so already the figures are different, so you could have all splits or none in the remaining youngsters.

Like Diane says, on the law of averages you should have 2 pure normals, 2 pure blues and 4 splits. And if I toss a coin I should get heads every 2nd time. Theory and fact do not always match.
