I have fruit fly problems with my conures aviary , what I find works is to make a fruit fly trap out of a fizzy bottle by cutting the top of the bottle below the neck then put some fruit ( can be old or just the peels ) into the bottle and then use tape to fix the inverted top part of the bottle into the lower part of the bottle . hang a couple of these around the aviary and the fly go in and cant get out .....

My surefire way of beating fruit fly is to give them fruit in the morning and take it out before as soon as they finish eating it and then give them more in the afternoon just before they have the last feed for the day and then that one comes out either that night or early the next morning .

Lorries and any fruit eating bird will be a little more high maintenance because the food they eat is highly perishable.

nectar needs to be removed no more than 4 hours after going in the cage (or so Ive been told ) because it will go off which attracts the flies,
