have been thinking of possibly putting a pair of something in with a pair of canaries in a patio style aviary. anyone got some ideas what would be compatible? Something easy to breed like canaries would be good. Or even wondering about something a little unusual like a pair of good quality lizards. Open to suggestions.

Canary's get along well with larger type finch. Don't put singers, gold finch or chaffinch as they will cross.Java's would be good if the aviary is large enough.

It's not very big Buzzard which is why I want to be careful what I put in. Only 1m x 65cm and 1.6m high at the top of peaked roof. Would some of the others be suitable if I separate them at breeding time so as not to have interbreeding?

A cage that size I would not share with Java's.You could have same sex birds if you aren't into breeding or separate early in the season just watch for bonding and separate earlier if this occurs.

a friend of mine keeps a varied collection with his canaries, including orange breasts, double bars, gouldians stars, painteds etc. etc.
in that size cage a pair of canaries and a pair of gouldians or javas should be fine :D
