Hi all,i`ve just joined the forum and i live in Alice Springs.I work at the Desert Park here and im interested in all feathered critters.I keep Lesser Red Brows,Orange Cheek waxbills and fawn Diamonds.I`ve been back into birds for about 5 years , i`ve found we have a great climate here(nearly a metre of rain this year) for breeding birds and i`ve had reasonable success with most species i`ve kept. Not many people keep and breed birds here so its a bit of a lonely hobby but i love it.My dad kept a lot of birds in Adelaide when i was growing up there, and we were fortunate enough to live acroos the road from the late Eric Baxter, who i still rate as a bit of a guru.I love Blue Caps but nearly did my back in carting termites and i found them very unforgiving if i ran out ,even when i got it right i produced nearly all cocks. My favourite species i`ve kept is the Lesser Redbrows. They are highly social, great parents and i reckon they are a stunning little finch.Hope to post some photos when i work out how lol.
Cheers
Jim

welcome
would love to see pics of your birds and of course those glorious sunsets only the Alice can make.

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Welcome to the Forum Jim. 1mtr of water in a year would have them digging out the boats round here. But I gather it was a pretty wet year for your part of the world.
