Droopy eyes

My adult male gouldian's eyes appear to be a bit droopy. They're not big and round and bright like the rest of them. Apart from that he appears to be healthy.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Ian

Any chance of a pic?
Might be worth while isolating him with some heat.

The eyes are a giveaway to a problem especially dehydration . Can you give a dose of spark to it to see if it picks up a bit with some electrolytes.

I dont think it is dehydration. It has been a bit droopy for a couple of days and we haven't had overly hot weather (a top of about 32 today). I'll add some electrolyte to their water and see how that goes.

Can definitely see a difference there. Spark seems like a good idea.

He has it in both eyes, so i don't think that he has bumped it.

I hate to be the doom sayer but has anyone considered a viral disease? Marek's is one of the herpes virus' so it inhabits the facial nerves, is highly transmissable and is well known for limb causing paralysis in chickens but can affect the eyes. Might be worth a visit to the vet for an ELISA test but better hope it's not as it's highly transmisable and there are treatments although there is an innoculation for chickens. In the mean-time isolate the bird immediately and hope for something less. Your vet will need the history of the affected bird and the progress of the disease, knolwdge of any new aviary inhabitants and also of any birds you've disposed of lately.
