Anyone any experience with Avian pox in canaries? One of my last chicks developed it shortly after fledging. Because it was so young the only isolation I could do meant putting the Dad and sibling in as well. Avian vet said they would be unlikely to catch it as they were clear at the time I saw him. However sibling now has it so on vet's advice started that one as well on a 10 day course of antibiotics just to prevent any secondary bacterial infections. Was asking Finchbreeder if she had any experience as am concerned about my 2 pairs of adults. It lasts for at least a month and one of the modes of transmission is via mosquitos so while ever the two young are still infectious there is still a risk for the others. Dad still feeding them a bit but weaning them so am monitoring their weights to see how they cope once he stops. Finchbreeder thought some of you might be interested in seeing photos, can post if you are.
