Just a tad! Ill bet there are a few finch breeders and a few book lovers who would give their right arm for it though, brilliant collectors piece.

Published 1894.. would be fascinating reading their aviculture practices, particularly diet. Wonder what their breeding success was like? Would love to borrow it for a few weeks just to look at. Son recently gave me the one with the bird art from the National Library, some of which dates back to late 1700's and has some beautiful and to our eyes quite strange illustrations.

That is cheap compared to Goulds I think the last copy went for $100,000
Sadly the great books with the original hand finished plates are often broken up and the plates framed and sold
to hang on a wall some where.

What a shame, the art works are amazing, too late to protect them now.

Would be a good addition to the library. Pity its just a tad out of my price range for a book.

I saw it too.
Hey shanny I saw the old Kingston book (keeping and breeding finches and seedeaters) go within the first 10 minutes of posting for $380. And also Dr. Richard Zann's "a synthesis of field and labratory studies in the zebra finch" go for $295. THAT"S a bit steep!
