The glenelge river is going to flood near here and there is an evacuation alert ,I am 50 kms from there so I am good.Got to feel for those effected though. We only have minor flooding here even though we had 130 mm of rain in two days.
I hope the Murray subsides before the water from Queensland hits it in about 6 or so weeks near Mildura. Then it will be heading to S.A.

I`ve been trying to tell you its the place to be.Seriuosly ,the season for everything to happen (including cyclones) in the NT is much later this year.We have big floods and cyclones in the top end most years but our population is so small it goes relatively unnoticed.I think the Indian Ocean is currently at record high temperatures and that can coincide with the top end having a big wet season and some wild weather.I hope not, seeing Katherine a few weeks after the 1998 flood wasnt a pretty site and the Daly River was 70 Klms wide out near the river mouth, taking out communities and homesteads that have been there for a hundred years.Alice Springs is not immuned to floods either, we sit in the flood plain of the Todd River. Many times last year i peered over the back fence to see a drainage channel on the rise and prayed for the rain to stop.We have been lucky so far but several times last year i had thoughts of grabbing photo albums and unloading the tinny off the trailer if the rain persisted. The Stuart Highway was closed for a few days this week about 250 k`s North. Its tragic whats happening in the easten states, its a big wake up call as to what can happen and Australia wide, where theres nice big rivers we`ve gone and built townships and cities right on top of them.

I thought you would like to know that the Murray here is running at near uncontrolled flood level.
There are at least 3 more big rivers flowing into it south of here and all are at flood level.
Then the Bidgee will add to it, I think the opening to the ocean will need to be big this time.
My daughter in laws parents had to abandone their home to save their 900 prize dairy cows.
I don't know if the million dollar dairy was lost. They are in Rochester Vic.

Maybe, being in a hot (dont remember last time it went under 25 and mostly not under 35) dry (less than 400mm in last 12 months) spot is not so bad after all. Too far north for fires and too far south for floods.
Hope you all stay above water and so do your birds.
