Only problem with cages shaped like that is that finches don't fly "up" that often (unless they have to - trust me just sit and watch the birds in an aviary!!) and with a big finch like a Gouldian the rectangular cage is a better bet as you can at least space the perches so they have to fly a bit more = more exercise. The ones I mean are the black or white Chinese jobbies that are relatively cheap and for 2 pair of Goudlians you could place then next to each other...........easy then to place a cardboard or wooden divider between them if they squabble. "Outta sight outta mind!!"
Both pairs in a cage like that one you have given the link to might stretch their 'friendship' a tad too much............sorry to be a kill-joy but I suspect you'd have ot back on Ebay in no time flat!!!

Anyway that price buys quite a few rectangular cages!!!

No it's a showing cage for something tough, NOT a breeding cage in particular for Gouldians

I asked this question a long time ago at a pet shop and the answer I got was " birds are not helicopters " short and sweet and I havent forgotten it ... I would use this type of cage for a larger handreared bird just for sleeping in or 1 pair of budgies who like to climb as well as fly.

My opinion is its better than some cages however not as good as others ...

Great answer Jusdeb.
I will use that when asked about those type cages.
Also birds will do far far better in wire cages if there is a solid roof. Its a security thing because birds have a built in fear
of being attacked from above. Solid roof will help to relax the birds.

The cage in that original link I put up did have a solid roof. My friend is selling a second hand one for $40 which I think I will use to put the young ones in..or maybe a pair of green singers! Too good a deal to let go!

Im not one for cabinet breeding,But I would think it would be better then a cabinet for a pr with a few mods,But as far as a aviary goes twice the width minimum, would be not to bad for a pr.

At that price it's a good deal for 1 pair. Just check the width between the bars as finch can squeeze through.
