I picked up a cage that came with 3 Gouldians yesterday. They all have ASM... :o I have treated them with Moxidectin overnight and they are already recovering, trying to punch out some tunes and flying around alot more. :D

I have two hens and one male. Not sure if one of the females is a red head or a dark orange head female, I will take some photos and you can tell me what you think????

yer i think it also looks like a red head but then again it could of been crossed with a red and orange head to get the darker orange

I would say its an Orange head but depends might be the photo I've found red head hens tend to be darker than that.

I go with the dark orange too. I was comparing her to framed's avatar. Maybe try a couple of shots with different lighting, daylight, overhead and just the flash on the camera and see what the colour looks like then. Framed would be the best person to ask what lighting would give the best idea of the true colour as he is the mod on the pic section.

Whatever her colour, pretty bird.

Just a thought. How about a picture of both hens. That would give us a comparison.

Use the beak as the indicator - despite the black of the breeding beak there should be either a yellow or red tinge to the beak esp at the tip.

Alex is right, beak colour has to be the give away. based on your photo I'd say yellow, but that is a particularly dark one if that's the case.

Put her with a yellow head cock to make sure, any yellow headed cocks in the offspring and that's what she is.
