Mother and I just sorted all our gouldians to see what we had between us in Orange head, Red head, Hens, Cocks. And to do some swapping so we both wind up with single head colour pairs, who are unrelated.
Well in the process she caught up the "old" Red headed cock (he's not all that old just the oldest) and the blue ring round his head is Cobolt in comparison to Turquise on all the other cocks we seem to have.
Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions why?
He's definately getting a new young mate and staying.

Got Mum to take some and will get son to put them up for me when he gets home for the Aussie Day break (lucky local govt employees shuffling work hours and having long weekends).
Don't forget I'm a techno failure.

Well while we were moving the Gouldians from one property to another today we may have answered our own question.
But I need you to check your Goldians and feed back so I know for sure.
"Old" Red headed boy has a cobolt ring round his neck, young Red headed boys have turquise, young Orange headed boy has cobolt.
Is it colour related as we know the "Old" boy is a split Orange? Please check yours and feed back.
Is it because the young Orange is the "Old" boys son? He's staying too and is going to one of the young hens I got from Chris/Fincher.
P.S. Chris you got 6 out of 7 right but still not 100% sure of the sex of the last one.

Please - please - please
Can you go and check your Gouldians and see if the "blue" section on their heads is cobolt or turquise and report back.
I really want to know if this is a possible mutation.
Come on - you know you want to be nice to me.

Nothing as deep blue as your boy.

Thanks Diane
He's Mum's actually, we both have Gouldians.
I have the Orange headed son, who is not quite as blue, but more blue than the "normal" unrelated red.
Any one else???????????
