Yellow star displaying again

We have ONE pair of yellow stars. They have been together since we bought them in July. They courted and paired up at the time. There are other birds in the aviary but no other stars. yesterday I noticed the male starting to display again with a lovely twig in his mouth, bobbing up and down on a perch. Don't think there was another bird near him. Why would he be displaying again? They were clearly paired up and to my knowledge nothing has happened to change that.

don't worry flab. most of my males do it, especially the stars, its perfectly normal and yes, you can assume they are still paired up :)

Flab was this after it rained? I got a bit exited when I saw my Star male sitting on the perch holding a piece of grass after the downpour and like yours the female was nowhere near him. They have been halfheartedly investigating new brush but am 99% sure no actual nest yet. OBs also were investigating nests briefly at exactly the same time. Will be curious to see if we get some follow up rain if they get serious

Probably just trying to entice the female into season, so to speak, but by the sounds of it, with no hen in sight, he's got about as much of a chance as a nerd in a strip club, can look all he likes but their aint no way he's gunna get what he wants.

They've both got willing girls VR1Ton these are our 2 males who are very skilled at building but never had a fertile egg between them.

I'll cross my fingers that all this rain has got them all excited. Excited enough to get it right this time in fact.

Thanks Finchbreeder. The OBs just sit and preen each other all day. Is this normal for them? They're not 'busy' like my other finches.
