Burping Update

Thanks for all the advice and support so here is an update

Chick is doing well, has feathers all over although some are still in the pin stage. He is presently sitting on the side of his cup nest after just having been fed. I have one question, before they fledge do they all look scruffy/dirty? In my experience my gould chicks when they come out are of a pretty sleek/smooth appearance. This bird is probably about 4/5 days from his feathers all coming out and I'm hoping that his appearance will improve. Any feedback would be appreciated.

So far, so good, but I believe in the old saying "dont count your chickens before the eggs hatch". I wont be happy until it is idependent and in the holding avairy. Will try and get some pics up. My fingers are sore from being continually crossed!

Ammended to "success thus far!"

I know what you mean. I have yet to date to bring any hand reared finch to perch and maturity! Either they died with the feeding or once they were house bound had an accident involving a cat  I've pretty much given up.

I have had the same experience with my mini foxie. My next question is this- How do I go about weaning the dear little thing? Can anybody help me? I have no idea!!!!! and I certainly cant hand feed it for the next 4-5 years, although my stepson has been for the past 24.
