I have a pair of Mandarin Ducks.

Year 1 they laid 3 eggs and hatched 1 duckling (I was told they will not breed first year)
Year 2 they laid 4 eggs and hatched 2 ducklings
Year 3 they laid 15 eggs and hatched 10 duckling (2 died)
Year 4 they laid 12 eggs and hatched 9 ducklings (5 died in the first 3 days as we had a cold snap)

over all I am very happy with my pair.
The enclosure is about 3x4 m, with a 1.5 x 2.5 m pond, heaps of greenery
I have stocked the pond with mosquito fish & fresh water prawns, which the ducks eat.

Cheers
Frank

Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. ...

Go the Trekky fans ....

Ooops well done on the Mandarines ...you will have to excuse the way things digress around here ...just adds to the fun . :D

Well done Frank,

Some people had a bad year with them last year.

Hopefully you can swap for some new blood and set up at least another pair.
