Breeding canaries

Am I able to crossbreed canaries, or is best to just keep with the same breed.
I have a male German roller and planning of getting a female either of the same breed or not

People cross canaries with gold finches quite often .
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

yeah. the result is very attractive in my mind, but I still wouldn't do it ever with any species.
Canaries will breed with most European finches, and even some siskins.
