finch madness

hi all, new member here and no bird expert, but since we bought a few zebra finches three years ago i can see i am now a victim of mad womans finch disease, we now have 40 different finches, all fabulous, funny and entertaining.
my daughter and i have noted over the years that some of the larger groups have family dynamics that would rival a bad American sitcom.
we have Fire-Tails, two females,
Society finches we call the Mormons as they have lots of kids and are devoted parents (We currently have quite a few for sale, all from the same parents).
mixed colored Zebras
Gouldians
Long Tailed finches,3.
Hope to buy some more Long Tails to complete our extended finch family,

Hi Sally,
I see you are in Mt. Barker! I used to live there for a few years - was working in Woodside (no prize for guessing what I did for a living lol). But I also had a band and played in the Grey Inn (Mt Barker) lots and lots. Also played at the German Arms in Handorf etc. this was back in the early '90's
So I am very familiar with your challenging climatic conditions there so you have done really well breeding all those finches! For those interested Mt Barker is in the Adelaide Hills. It can get below 0 in winter with a very heavy frost (1cm of ice on your windscreen every morning in winter!) to over 40 degrees in summer - a very dry heat - bad for allergies etc. But mostly, it likes to rain a lot lol
