Went out to the aviary yesterday after work to discover three Ruddy fledlglings - they are so tiny. I thought the pair had babies but was very careful not to bother them as they are a young pair and I only got them last spring ( from Birds R us - a detour on the way home from holidays!! ) - this will be their first clutch.
They seem to be doing well and I think one of the babies might be pied. The male isnt territorial with the nest but defends the mealworms like crazy.!

ruddies are great finches. i love mine.

i have 3 pair of cinnamons and all birds have very good white spotting on the chest. they are all nesting at the moment so i'm hoping for some chicks before winter sets in.
