Went down to release the Gouldian hen I had swapped with Mum midmorning. And looking out of the old plastic rat ball I have hanging from the roof of the main avairy is a fledgling finch. :soppy: Now if only I had seen any adult finches anywhere near that nest in the last 3 months. :shifty: Ah well at least I can visually eliminate some of my birds purely from size and experiance. The Cubans have used this nest unsucessfully in the past so I will cross my fingers, observe and wait.

 It's a baby Cuban. :D Have had Cubans lay before, but this is my first fledgling. One of the problems of insisting on unrelated stock has been using mature birds whose ages are sometimes uncertain. But finally was able to source young birds of both sexs from different sources in the same 18 month period. These first time parents are very attentive of their young. From those who have bred Cubans before, at what age do I need to remove junior from mum and dad? So cute.
