Ive put in Spinach and Won bok this morning and was about to fill a planter with some seeds from the bottom of the container holding millet , wonder now if it is too late for planting millet ?
What else can be grown this time of year to cut a few bob from the bird food bill?

Ive got what looks like a millet seed head coming up in a pot of Johnston grass. Both the guinea and Johnston grass are growing well here.

Most of the millets and pannicums will probably struggle a bit from now on.Gregh might be able to assist with good types of plants for this time of year.If seeding grasses are planted in sept /oct some varieties will still be producing good seed heads but will start to go down hill from now on.I will post some pics in the next few days, sounds like your on the right track with what you have planted, leafy greens are the go as the weather starts to cool off.Rainbow Chord if you can find it grows well through winter.

If you have goulds forage oats and any of the rye grasses will give you seed heads through winter stager your plantings. Not sure about down south though.
