Thanks guys.
I got these birds from a breeder at the 2011 annual bird sale in Cranbourne or Skye in Victoria. The cockbird is probably one of my favourites but he's territorial. The only birds I can put him in a cage with are my beige cockbird and my fawn hen. He and the hen seem to peck the feathers out of any other birds i try to introduce. They really are great to look at and watch though

I wasnt sure. You should have him to a Fawn hen which will then give you all splits. I have some new young for sale if you need more.

Re chainsaws first photo of Iluminas ...
I was very surprised to see about 40 of these types of birds at the local pet shops .
Less silvery in appearance and more white but the patterns and markings very much the same .
The reason I was surprised is that every now and then I will spot a striking little bird that stand out but these are ALL uniform in colour and pattern with the onlt difference being that about half had the grey / black patch at the front and the others dont .
So am I safe in assuming that they are a established mutation of some sort ? And would such a beautiful little bird really be only $15 pair .
This isn't a common sight for pet shops around here especially with the Zebs . I think they cam from Newcastle area as thats where he was off buying birds recently .
I know its hard without a photo but can anyone hazzard a guess as to what they maybe ?

Much very much like this little one only the grey barring at the front was slightly darker on those marked and void on others .

Thats cheap jusdeb they may not know of the price. Alumina to Alumina i guess you would pay about $40p. My pairs about 4yrs ago cost me $50p they were small and we were lucky to get them even as a Zeb Club. But i dont think the bird in picture is a Alumina.

No they are too white compared to those pictured ... I thought some other mutation since there were so many and of such consistent markings .
I think Im having a Zebra Finch moment after seeing them .
