Emblema fledglings

Hello,

Excited to have 2 emblema fledglings about 1 week old. Unfortunately another one was found out on the floor out of the avair today, hopefully not a sign of things to come. Both parents are really going for the mealworms and red panum, but it doesn't seem like the eat and return directly to the nest to feed the young. Is this normal?

Is there anything else to do but wait and hope for the best?

RE the feeding, I haven't bred painteds so I'll let someone else answre for sure... but I'd say as long as the young have food in their crops they should be fine.

this is normal, as long as they go back into the nest at night. They will be fine, throw in some endive and/or seeded grass if you can get.

Disappointing, another one on the aviary floor this morning, still alive so I put it back in the nest. Is still kicking now 5 hours later somehow. I put a small bit of wood at the bottom of the nest entrance to try and keep them in, I am probably interfering and should let nature take its course but couldn't help it.

Don't forget, we are a part of nature, so help if you can. Hope this last one makes it for you.

Have one feathered fledgling out on the aviary floor now! Pretty exciting. I know this must have been asked before, he can't fly should i let him go or put him back in the nest for night time?

most, if not all, of my painted babies are poor fliers for the first few days and usually do fine on the aviary floor, assuming it isn't the middle of winter or a cold snap. just make sure there is a warm sheltered corner and they usually find it :)

adding to spannas thoughts , they can have a problem landing in water dishes and drowning. placing a flat rock or a layer of marbles in the water dish to help from this....pete

1 survived and is doing well. Do they make a lot more noise begging when the parents have decided it's time to eat for themselves? Bout 3 weeks old now.
