Does anyone know of Spotted Bowerbirds being kept in Aviculture and especially in NSW?

Cheers

not that I'm aware of, but try contacting zoos/wildlife parks - they're probably the most likley :)

Way out of my league Jay :D . There have been reports of one being spotted in North Rothbury in the Hunter Valley and people are questioning whether it has turned up on its own or is an escapee!

Only one I know of is at Featherdale... Singleton's not too far out of range, they have been recorded at Mudgee before...

Grew up with them visiting the back yard regularly ..Bowen Mtn .

Thing with these rarer and shyer birds is that locals that know of them dont tell others . They want the birds to continue visiting so dont spread the word .

Word got out about a family of Wongas that also visited our back yard , sure enough some greedy fool trapped them and sold them ....

Honest to god if I told you what I saw on 2 occasions you would seriously doubt my sobriety .

Let me guess, a Night Parrot! Ground Parrots are found further south, am I right? I saw one many years ago near Hughenden (Queensland).

Ground Parrots are in suitable habitat along the coast from Brisbane to Melbourne, as well as Tasmania, but very, very fragmented!

Nrg .... what the books tell us and what is real is sometimes quite different ... sometimes animals and birds pop up in the most peculiar places especially in areas that are surrounded by virgin bushland .

Where I spent my teenage years is nestled between the Megalong Valley and the Gross Valley , both areas are still mostly as they have been for thousands of years .

Always keep an open mind . :D

No it was neither of these birds ... :silent:
