Now what ?

After flooding rain and a mild summer the poor bloody birds dont know which way is up ...finally got a clutch of Red Rumps which I predicted would be fledged before winter and now we go into cold weather .

So for all you out there with the new clutches of Gouldians or whatever else is breeding this time of year GOOD LUCK FOLKS . Hope the cold doesnt affect you too much .

Must say I didn't like seeing all the longtails every time I went past the aviary today, The Auroras seem to be doing everything right(Fingers crossed.)

Know what you mean Deb. Gouldians with chicks in nests and we get a downpour and cooler weather. So it's the whole blinking country that does not know what it is doing weatherwise.

(Update) Woking on the aviary blinds this morning, Longtail young well and truly still alive by the sounds coming out of the nest there's a few of them. This will be the third nest hatched from this particular pair .

beautiful day and the young that should have fledged 2 days ago are STILL in the nest, then the next day, wet, windy, brass monkey weather and there they are! Luckily they are in a cabinet in the shed even though the doors are wide open is still a bit more protected.

My little red rumps are fully feathered and look to explode ( as red rumps do ) out of the nest box very soon ....I know Im biased and it was only a peep but these babies have gawjus markings ...

Another plus my el cheapo bird netting saved me losing an Opaline 3 times in one hit ....he was determined to get out but the netting pulled him up .

Oh and more pluses ..its a beautiful day here today .
