Import/Export Licenses

I think this deserves to be a new topic, leading on from "Redback wrens for sale" post. Does anyone else have a problem with the Import/Export Permits, $30 at the moment, from the NSW NPWLS? It has been suggested that this fee contravenes the free trade between states legislation.
It also raises the question as to why no other states charge this fee, that I am aware of.
I would be interested to hear from anyone else as to whether their state charges a fee for these permits. Maybe, we as a group, need to challenge the legality of this. We already pay enough for our licenses as it is.

With the right lawyer you could beat it but it will cost you a LOT MORE than $30! Unfair or not it's things like this that the government relies on. I wonder if Gerry Harvey keeps birds?
