Well recently i got some red faced parrot finches off bleeding green (who was a legend to deal with )and also a sea green hen from nowra. i split up the hens from the cock and released the cock first out of quarantine. In to aviary. Anyway when i put the two hens in the cock went mad and mated with them both multiple times!! And hes built a massive nest in the brush similiar to diannes Bf parrots. Im stokked. Both hens are sussing it out aswell.

And about 9 inches below my red cheek cordons are sitting in there own nest in the brush. And due to hatch anyday. Im stokked will try and take some pics im just tentative of scaring the crap outta sitting cordons so i might wait. ALso bred my longtails which were new arivals recently also.

ANyway fingers crossed hopefully these parrot finches can turn it on first go. By the way buzz this cock cordon built a awesome nest rear entrance and all and they dont scare easily i can walk rite near erm and they dont leave the eggs Got you to thank for that. My last cock bird was a poorer nest builder.

I will keep the maggots up only issue is the gluttonouse parrot finches hehe seems to drive erm mad. Also the painteds go nuts on the maggots they dont stop breeding im gonna pull erm out soon to rest erm all up over winter. i dont wanna burn out the poor hens. Only birds i havent bred this year are my plumheads and i havent bred lotsa gouldians only a few but there on eggs now so fingers crossed for a late lash at this season and hope everyone else is doing well. Hope to share some pics soon.

Well done , must be a good feeling . You are obviously doing something right there . Yes please photos but not at the expense of the birds being upset.

dont worry its not or bliss sometimes. Had my fair share of woes dont you worry. Just happy to be running as planned at present.

Hi Ben,
You are doing really well with your breeding. One pair of painted have just hatched 3 babies, not much else doing but i really don't want anyone to breed as we leave to go on our 3 month trip in a couple of weeks. I put my two pairs of zebras in there yesterday and they are nesting already thats what I worry about coming home to an aviary full of zebras. Does anyone know if red parrot or stars breed during the winter? :

Well done Ben. I was thinking of getting some cordons - maybe some of your's if they go the distance. I've found plumheads can be a bit choosy about mates, but once they start breeding they go like stink! And I've got plenty of plumheads if you want to try a new cock/hen.

Thanks sam...and yea sounds like a plan. Fingers crossed for these cordons! How are your siskins? Lynn i rekon they would. i get a bit worried as to how long i let all my birds try. Problem is i dont want them all just perch roosting during winter either
