Been told that when my grandfather was young and bred all sorts of birds that he had many pairs of bullfinchs, I was wondering are they extinct in Australian avery culture or do they have a different name.

Bullfinch or Bully's is the common name for the Chestnut Breasted Munia. There are still heaps around, Like the Yellow rumps they fell out of favour with a lot of keepers.
