Pretty bird and have bred them BUT for some reason they attract scaley mite to their feet and also mosquitos bites even if other birds in the aviary aren't effected. :o

What's the going rate for avairy bred goldfinches in Melbourne.

Thanks
Hi mate, have you tried Gumtree which is a free classified?I did a quick search for ya and saw an add for $5 goldfinches.

At $5 dollars I doubt very much they are cage bred and as of other who knows how he can have them at five bucks.

Nope , definitely wild-trapped. And as an added bonus for your $5 you get Megabacteria, coccidia and any choice of bacterial and fungal bugs all for free!!!!

A little cynical, perhaps, but wild-caught goldfinches stress easily and often succumb to these bugs so if you buy any make sure you quarantine them properly away from the rest of your birds.

I hate wild caught birds. Unless your aviary is 200 meters squared they are more a pain then pleasure.

Have to say they are my all time favorite finch and were the reason I got into finches to begin with.

I first really heard them when I was at my uncles in Spain.

He would trap them and put them in cages along a big balcony.

When my new aviary is up I am going to get quite a few.

Also love the chaffinch and linnet or pardillo as we call it.

Europe has the best finches without a dounbt.
