Buying Tri-coloured Nuns around Brisbane

I am a member of the QFS (Queensland Finch Society) and I have had almost no luck trying to find breeders of any of the Lonchura finches (Nuns, Mannikins or Munias). In particular south-east Asian ‘Munias’ and New Guinea ‘Mannikins’. Where have they all gone? Have they fallen out of fashion? I live on the south-side of Brisbane and would like to get/buy some new blood to add to my existing flock. Can anyone please help me out with some contacts in south-east Queensland?

I'm not a whiz with locations of some species, so could you give us a clue as to which mannkins live on new guinea?
as for the nuns, all thee species are around, in fairly good numbers. you just have to look in the lower haf of the continent.

There's probably more species but I have to do some work. Pity we didn't take propper care of Edward Hallstrom's collection of New Guinea birds then we'd have the lot.

Hi,

there are quite a few QFS members with all 3 Nuns and also some with White-bellied Munias. PM me for details.

Greg H,
Thanks for your help with the Pictures
Most Australian finch breeders are not aware of all the finches in the Genus Lonchura as such, the majority of finches we had here is Australia have been crossed with bengalese and the preponderance of sub-species that did exist here have now been blended into one new form or lost completly. Very Sad indead and we are still doing it with the latest loss being the southern Star finch (Neochmia ruficauda ruficauda)
I now have all morphs of these beautiful Finches
Thanks to all those from all over Australia who helped
