I received a couple of zebra finches today and the youngest one about 2 months old has an offset beak which is now over grown and all of them have really long curly feathers. I have since trimed the beak abit, but I am unsure what has caused the feather curling??? Could anyone help me with a possible cause???

Dont budgies get the curling feathers? I not really sure but I think it started off as a genetic abnormality. I have seen pics of budgies with every feather curled. Finchbreeder would be the one that could answer this, her Mum breeds budgies.

Yes Di- they're called chrysanthemums and usually die at a fairly young age.
Any chance of posting photos of the zebs Shameless Phantom? Interesting that there are a number of birds affected, not just one.

II was inspired by Myzo's reply and had to look for myself. For me this is the equivalent of those unfortunate bubble eyed, fork-tailed, pearl scaled, pot-bellied gold fish. Yuck Yuck Yuck. Not what I would call quality of life for the monster created for human amusement.

I will get some pics as soon as i can. It can fly as normal, the parents have slightly curly tail feathers but they seem to have got abit better since i have taken them from their older cage and into a flight cage. The baby is affected on the tail and wing feathers. She can fly but i would prefer to get her what she needs asap so we can try and fix this problem.
That poor bird in the picture! How on earth could that bird enjoy its life???

Arent the 2 symptoms described signs of liver disease ? Have the birds been exposed to some kind of toxin I wonder .
Only other time Ive seen these symptoms was in a bird ( not mine ) that had either a zinc or iodine deficiency ,cant remember which.
Im just guessing here in the hope it jogs someones memory .
