Blue x Silver

I have heard downwind that this is a stronger combination than breeding blue x blue.
(Well in theory they are both still 2 genes for blue back)
All babies could be blue, pastel or silver.

Any comments?
Anyone actually tried with surviving and breeding progeny?

Hi,
Just a couple of comments.
I have been breeding blues for 8 years - very frustrating!
A silver Gouldian has the two blue genes as well as one yellowback gene (female) or two YB genes (male). So in a blue/silver mating there is still a blue to blue component.
I have tried blue to blue matings - but the fledglings are very weak, and none have actually been capable of successfully breeding. I do not use bengalese to foster.
I have not actually tried a blue to silver mating. At this stage most of my parings are blue to split, or blue to normal.
Cheers, Barry

From my experience i don't think this is right . A few years ago it was thought blue to Australian yellow was a strong cross it didn’t prove to be the case. Blue to a good strong split is still a better bet.
