The nestbox is good for gouldians,It is what they call the euro design. Will be interesting how you go with the stocking on the fly box ? Can you give us a report on how it goes after a month or so of using it ?

yes i will let u know. the gouldians checked out the nest box straight away. the seed winnower is excellent, tried it yesterday and saved about 2kg of seed.

Why do you ask if the stocking on the fly box will be of interest??

Started the fly box today; and yes the stocking is a bit of a pain to get things in and out but after a while i worked it out!!!

i think mick, like me, is just interested in how easy it is to get things through the stocking, and how well it lasts, cos i imagine replacing it would be a pain!!

i made a very similar nest box for my gouldians, just doesn't have the floor under the entrance. they apparently didn't like the nest boxes already in there so built a nest of their own for their first ever clutch, and fledged six young! now those are weaned and they are in my home made box sitting tight on 5 eggs at last count :) good signs for this design!!

Is always a pain getting into the fly box and fly's escaping. Will be interesting to see how the stoking goes with wear and ease of entry for containers, And will the flys still get out with it anyway ??? Sometimes I think more escape out when opening the door then I am breeding

well guys and gals it has ben a month or two with the fly box, the stocking is holding up brilliantly ( no ladders!!! ).
once you get used to putting things in and out of the fly box through the stocking it becomes quite easy to use and have had minimal escapees!
had some teething problems ( cooked flies ), down to a 25 watt pearl mini globe and that is providing plenty of heat.
