one of our clutches of quail chicks is from two silver parents. Dad is silver, mum is silver but has slight beige tinges in parts. of the 5 chicks, three were yellow with some darker undertones and are colouring up silver, and two were a clean yellow and are colouring up a lighter colour, like a cream/white. I don't know much about king quails, is white a fairly common colour? in shops I usually see normals or silver. Don't often see others like cinnamon or white. is that because they are very unusual or not popular??

Pics, pics, pics. White is pretty rare and it is from silver with cinnimon. I have tried to do this without success. But then I could have tried harder, or with more birds. Just a sideline not a major thing. But most interested in seeing them and maybe swapping? Buying?

Thanks FB will post some pics over the weekend.will do pics of parents + chicks. Will also post a pic of our cinnamon chick so you can give me feedback on the range of colours that they come in relative to ours. Happy to look at swap or sale when fully coloured up and ready to go. Maybe for your July trip?
Can you pm what birds you have?

Definately different.

My quail are cinnamon and/or silver. Gouldians, OH PB GB and RH PB GB. Sorry no split YB at the moment. Bengos, Zebs both in reasonable supply. Everything else no spares at the moment. Might have to buy one or 2 from you.

If interested happy to sell them once ready, or swap for a cinnamon (haven't yet taken a pic of my cinnamon chick) or gouldian YH hen.

Make sure that you keep the parents so that you can breed more of the white ones.

Thanks Tintola, that is what I was planning to do. Will be interesting to see the proportion of white to silver in future clutches.

Congratulations!
Could you post another photo in the future, when they are fully grown and feathered.

My experience with these paler chicks within silver clutches is that they eventually moult out to resemble their siblings. I'll be watching however to see if something new has popped up as it was a silver clutch in which our first dilutes appeared (although they looked different as chicks from what you have).
