Ruddies are totally placid (usually). Should be $30 - $50pr. Prefer maggots or termites over mealworms but will also enjoy Drosophila (vinegar fly) as livefood. Like to nest low. Perfect nest site for them is the smallest size enclosed cane nest at about knee height. Use plenty of feathers as well as fine grasses. Will use a feather "blind" whilst incubating/brooding. One of few finches who don't mind darker coloured feathers. Spend plenty of time on the ground so dry aviary floor important. Not a hard bird to breed at all. First finch I ever bred - great little bird.
were do you get those kinds of live food from and how much do they cost? , is a half coverd aviary ok?

First what does ao mean. Second Is your half covered aviary (note spelling)protected from winds? Third, you can breed your own, some pet shops can supply or some bait and tackle shops stock gentiles (Maggots)nathan morley wrote:ok ao so were do you get those types of live food from an is a half coverd planted aviay ok?

I thought you said you didn't like foreign finches?
I would say it would be OK, but like Buzz said make sure it is draught-proof and not overcrowded.

and from your other post it would seem you want to overcrowd both.
