a well-known aviculturist from canberra who moved to the kangaroo valley in 2009 kept a lovely pair of bobbies in with his finches. no trouble

From what I seen of them I’m with Zebman and the males can be noisey! Most are hatched in an incubator so it’s difficult to find a pair that will hatch out and raise young naturally. Better to stick with ground quail imo.

ive got cali's but a friend of mine had bobwhites many years back. personally i think the larger quail aren't really worth the bother unless you have a very large aviary or keep larger species of birds. i would also recommend just sticking with the king quail for finches. the bigger breeds can be flighty and whilst docile as they roost tend to get in the finches and make a mess.
